Samsung has started pushing out this firmware after a round of Beta releases for the single and dual SIM (international) Exynos Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge variants previously. This Android 7.0 Nougat OTA firmware comes with build ID G891AUCU2BPL4 which is available as a zip file. In this guide, we’ll flash this update file using stock recovery. Keep in mind that your phone should be running on the G891AUCS2APL1 firmware version to enjoy the latest Nougat experience.
Before Getting Started:
- Make a complete backup of all your existing data and applications, in case anything goes wrong then you’ll able to restore your data back.
- Navigate to Settings > Personal > Lockscreen and Security> Find my mobile and turn off Reactivation Lock.
- Enable USB Debugging from Settings > Developer options.
- Enable system apps by navigating to Settings > Applications; otherwise, OTA installation may fail.
- Ensure that the battery level of your phone is about 80% before proceeding to the installation guide.
Steps to Install Android 7.0 Nougat OTA on Galaxy S7 Active (SM-G891A) via Stock Recovery:
Step 1: First, download the firmware OTA Zip files (SS-G891AUCS2APL1-to-U2BPL4-UP.zip) on the desktop of your computer. (It contains 2 OTA .zip files). Rename the first one to update.zip
Step 2: Now, copy/paste the Android 7.0 OTA firmware .zip file to the root folder of your SDcard.
Step 3: Power off your device in order to boot into Recovery.
Step 4: Power ON the Galaxy S7/S7 Edge into the recovery mode by pressing and holding the Volume Up + Home + Power buttons at the same time until you get into the stock recovery.
Step 5: After entering into the recovery mode, select apply update from external storage option.
Step 6: Locate the Android 7.0 firmware file that you have already transferred to the root folder of your SDcard in Step 2. Select the SS-G891AUCS2APL1-to-U2BPL4-UP.zip file.
Step 7: Click Yes to apply.
Step 8: Once the firmware is installed successfully, reboot your phone using reboot system now option.
Step 9: When your phone boots up, rename the next OTA.zip file to update.zip and copy it to the root folder of your SDcard.
Step 10: Install the file using the same steps you flashed the first file.
